Round table rental: 60-inch or 72-inch
Round tables are the default for seated dinners because everyone can talk to everyone. A 60-inch round seats 8 and a 72-inch round seats 10. For the same guest count, 72-inch rounds mean fewer tables, fewer centerpieces and a slightly more open floor, which suits a wedding. The 60-inch is the safer pick for a tight yard or a smaller tent.
Space is what people underestimate. Plan on roughly 10 to 12 square feet per guest seated at rounds, which works out to about a 10x10 patch of floor for each 60-inch table with its chairs. If the tables are going under a tent, the table and chair rentals page has a seating chart, and you can size the tent from there.

Banquet tables: 6-foot and 8-foot
Banquet tables do the work rounds can't. A 6-foot table seats 6 to 8 and an 8-foot seats 8 to 10, and they line up end to end for a family-style dinner or a long head table. They also fit more guests into a narrow lot or a garage.
Even if you seat guests at rounds, rent banquet tables for everything else: the buffet, the dessert table, gifts, the DJ, a drink station. Two or three 6-footers cover most backyard parties. For a graduation party, add one for the photo boards and cards; the graduation party checklist has the rest.
Banquet tables are also the November order. When Thanksgiving outgrows the dining room, two 8-foot tables end to end seat 16 to 20 through the living room, and a 6-footer in the kitchen holds the turkey and sides. Measure first: allow about 3 feet behind each row of chairs so people can get past.
Cocktail and high-top table rental
High-tops are the 30-inch round tables at standing height, about 42 inches tall. They give people somewhere to set a drink at a cocktail hour, an open house or a party that's mostly standing. A common rule of thumb is one for every 10 or so standing guests, and standing crowds need only about 6 to 8 square feet each. Most party rental companies carry them; ask whether yours come with a spandex cover.
Farm table rental for rustic and backyard weddings
Farm tables are long wooden tables meant to be seen, so you skip the tablecloth and add a runner. They're the usual choice for barn weddings and backyard receptions in Saratoga County farm country, and they pair with cross-back chairs from our chair rentals page. Ask about farm tables early: fewer companies carry them than banquet tables, and wood tables are heavy, so confirm the delivery truck can reach the spot you've picked.
Linen and tablecloth rental: sizes that fit
Order linens by table and by drop. A lap-length cloth falls about halfway to the ground and suits a casual party. A floor-length cloth hides the legs and reads as a wedding.
| Table | Lap length | Floor length |
|---|---|---|
| 60-inch round | 90-inch round | 120-inch round |
| 72-inch round | 102-inch round | 132-inch round |
| 6-foot banquet | 60x102 | 90x132 |
| 8-foot banquet | 60x120 | 90x156 |
| 30-inch high-top | Spandex cover | 120-inch round, tied with a sash |
Ask whether linens come pressed and whether napkins are sold by the dozen. White and ivory are the safe colors under a white tent; check that the company can match the shade across every table.
Table rentals across Albany, Schenectady and Saratoga
We send table rental requests from Albany and Delmar out to Schenectady, Troy and Saratoga Springs. Mention the access when you ask: the Stockade's narrow streets and Troy's rowhouse blocks mean carrying tables from the curb, while Saratoga books up during track season, roughly mid-July to Labor Day, so order early for a party in those weeks. For a tented reception, start with wedding tent rental so the tables and tent are planned together. Send your date, town, guest count and table types through the quote form, or call (518) 464-8736.
